I was late picking up my copy of Disney Kingdoms, Figment #2 from Marvel (early if you consider I am several years behind all of my favorite titles). Helpful hint #1 when you see it advertised on shelves July 6, understand they are shipped to stores the Wednesday prior. I found out the hard way (Do you see a pattern?) and issue 2 was sold out at my usual comic book stores. I used my imagination, found a copy across town and one free Slurpee later I have a brief review.
While book two sets up great story possibilities for the rest of the series, it is a reminder why I wait for a mini-series to end before reading. The anticipation and expectations destroy me. Book two ended well, but a little bit early. Twenty pages of art and story, not including the last issue recap. New worlds, creatures and a beautiful friendship are discovered. Great writing allows distinct personalities to emerge from the page. Imaginative energy allows the art to jump out of a fantastic reality. There will be more of this tale to tell.
I look forward to issue three and how the adventure continues. The new book is set to be in stores August 6. I will stop in July 30…just in case.
