There is nothing I love more than going to Disneyland and being surprised by a special event! For the month of August, the Adventure Trading Company has set up camp at the Indiana Jones Outpost, to send YOU on a quest to obtain rare (limited edition) Juju’s hidden around Adventureland. What is a Juju you ask? It’s a traditional relic that represents a quest or special experience. There are nine collectable Juju’s.  Each adventure starts at $5 (refreshment adventures slightly more) and there is no annual passholder discount. Continue reading →

With seventy-five visits to the Disneyland parks, I have never been to the Cove Bar at California Adventure. It’s a full service bar on the boardwalk, behind Ariel’s Grotto that overlooks Paradise Bay. It’s a cozy space, with a great view of the park and a nice place to sit back and unwind. Our team is packing up and getting ready to head south to San Diego! We have been to WonderCon and D23 Expo in Anaheim, Stan Lee’s Comikaze in Los Angeles, but this will be our first experience attending the giant that is San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve printed out schedules, made spread sheets and have snacks prepared for the next 5 days of pop culture overload. We highlighted special preview screenings and interesting panels from Marvel to Star Wars, ABC, Pixar and beyond! We’ll Instagram photos of Disney-inspired cosplay and share updates through Facebook.

Below is a schedule of Disney related events. Continue reading →

A Spoonful of Dining: Trader Sam’s

One of the things I love most about living close to Disneyland is every time we drive down to Anaheim, even if it is for a few hours, my mind is tricked into believing that I am on vacation. Hanging out at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar only reinforces that mentality. This tropical hideaway is nestled in the center of the Disneyland Hotel surrounded by palm trees and lush greenery. The Tiki Bar is named after the best “head salesman” in the  Amazon Jungle, Trader Continue reading →

A Spoonful of Shopping: SHAG Signing at Wonderground Gallery

Posted on June 12, 2014 by Beth Posted in Shopping .

On Saturday, Phranq and I went down to the WonderGround Gallery at Downtown Disney, to see the latest Disney inspired piece of art by Southern California artist Shag. WonderGround has become one of my favorite places to visit when I venture to Disneyland. Before WonderGround, I never realized Disney supported and promoted independent artists. They feature a growing slate of artists with special events,  new works of art and merchandise. Continue reading →

Hello World and Welcome!

Posted on May 22, 2014 by Beth Posted in Uncategorized .

Hello everyone and welcome to A Spoonful of Disney! Where we will discuss, and review all aspects of The Walt Disney Company. Some of our favorite topics will include: Theme Parks, Disney’s culinary world, film and television (including Marvel and Lucas Films) and so much more!

My name is Beth, and I will be your host!

Growing up in Florida, trips to Disney World were an annual pilgrimage for my family. As I got older I noticed a lot of people “out growing” their enjoyment of the parks and seeing the movies.  That was not the case for my brother and I. Our love and passion for Disney has only gotten stronger! Now my brother shares our Disney traditions with the next generation. Just the other day I was video chatting with my 3 year old niece.  By video chatting, I mean, watching and listening to her sing the cutest, choreographed, “Let It Go,” from Frozen while dressed as Elsa!

Over six years ago, I moved to Los Angeles and fell in love with a fellow Disney dreamer, who I now call my husband! We go to Disneyland at least once a month, belong to D23 and attend special events.  We enjoyed every D23 Expo, go to Walt Disney World every chance we get and prefer to surround ourselves with the complete Disney experience.

My brother, Brian will be our east coast correspondent discussing all things Walt Disney World and his great love of their food. My husband, Frank and I will cover and discuss west coast happenings in the world of entertainment, and much, much more!

Please feel free to make suggestions on things you, the reader, would like us to share. We hope you enjoy reading what we have to say!

And remember…

”There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day…”
