The D23 Expo is finally here! Our bags packed and are ready to head down to Anaheim for this weekends long awaited D23 Expo. This year’s schedule is jammed packed with exciting panels, presentations, discussions, artist and celebrity signings, and performances by some of Disney Channels biggest stars!
Disney Infinity 2.0 has a couple ways of keeping track of your Infinity collection. In the game menu there is a Disney Infinity Collection menu. Selecting this option will pull up a checklist of all the figures and power discs you have taken ownership of. This menu has been updated to include yet to be released characters and power discs. I discovered a couple power discs not listed on my other checklists. Marvel Team up: Captain Marvel and Ultimate Falcon Costume. Continue reading
Set in the “Ultimate” Spiderverse, the Spider-Man play set is my favorite adventure yet. Swinging into action as Spider-Man has a timing, feel and control the true web-slinger would have in the real world. I feel awkward, like Peter Parker testing things out for the first time. I’ll get the swing of it eventually. Continue reading
The Guardians of the Galaxy join forces to protect Knowhere from a Kree invasion that may or may not be their fault. Am I the only one playing the soundtrack from the movie as I play? Continue reading
After a huge pre-order fiasco I finally got my Disney Infinity 2.0 collectors edition with Frost Giant base. I am so excited. This is the first time I am starting with a full set of characters. I don’t know where to begin. Avengers Assemble!!! Continue reading
From now until September thirteenth, all Disney Infinity power discs are on sale 3 packs for $10 at Toys R Us stores. This is a perfect opportunity to collect the 10 special release power discs in special gold pouches.
In addition to the Marvel booth and X Box Lounge, Disney Infinity set up shop across the tracks from the convention hall. Visitors were treated to giveaways, drinks and served hors d’oeuvres as they were introduced to the new world of Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes on compatible game consoles. New Characters, adventures and power disks were a reach away as gamers sampled the updated toy box and play sets in the Marvel Universe and placed advance orders for the new game system. Disney Infinity announcements are flying at us harder than a certain heroes hammer! Joining the Avengers will be the Spiderman playset with Nova, Iron Fist, Nick Fury and Venom in a special symbiotic adventure. First question that came to my mind was, “Will Nick Fury work in both playsets?” I hope the Marvel Universe will be interchangeable with a free range mode after missions are completed. I read a report where it mentioned players will be able to choose between twenty playable heroes! We have only scratched the surface of Infinity.
I have been a fan of infinity from the early announcements at D23. A game that allows me to play with actual toys. Build, race, knock things down…perfect inspiration for creative play. Unless you want to cover Monster University in ice or wreck Pirates of the Caribbean with Ralph going turbo. I have found the Toy Box a little harder to use than I would like. Instead of going to a game store and “buying” the toys you want to play with, players are sent on a treasure hunt to find game elements or spin a game of chance to “win” items. This adds interactivity, but makes it difficult to complete a race track or castle when you get your third fantasy tree pack or ESPN sports element. It was reported that this has been changed in the upcoming release. Instead of a chance based system players will climb a development tree.
I purchased most of the Toy Box characters and now I’m going back to finish the Play Sets with all the characters. In hindsight, I should have purchase all the characters for a Play Set before I set out to complete it. There are places in the game where missions are unique to specific characters. When you reach one of these missions, swap the character out and complete the mission. Swap back to continue with the other character. Each character gains experience points separately. So power up your favorites and practice with the others as desired. As we draw closer to the 2.0 release I hope the price will drop on the first run characters and Play Sets and I will be able to find some of the harder to find characters.
