James Gunn has reported Star Lord’s paternal heritage will not follow the comic book source material of J’son of Spartax. Does this mean we will see a surprise new character in up coming Marvel movies? I will go on record now saying it is not Agent, I’m sorry, Director Colson, but Peter Quill’s father should be played by my hero Bruce Campbell from Sky High. Here are some of my fan boy favorite picks for dear old dad (to be played by Bruce Campbell). Continue reading
I picked up my copy of Figment 4 this week and discovered Marvel is killing off Wolverine again. That is a story for another time. Figment 3 and 4 chronicles our heroes adventures in a dimension of dreams, on the path to self discovery. Along the way Blair and Figment are captured by the indigenous Sound Sprites and make friends with a new social outcast. Unbeknownst to them, an alien invasion of conformity is unleashed on London. When their journey drops them into the heart of a nightmare, Blairion Mercurial discovers the true strength of imagination, embraces the power of the dream and becomes the Dream Finder complete with a majestic beard. Will the team find their way back to London in time to stop a mechanical siege of Whovian proportions? Continue reading
The JuJu hunt is over (at least for the time being)! The month long, guest interactive experience ended with a celebration and while supplies lasted, the limited release Skull JuJu was sold to all guests brave enough to tell a tale of adventure.
From now until September thirteenth, all Disney Infinity power discs are on sale 3 packs for $10 at Toys R Us stores. This is a perfect opportunity to collect the 10 special release power discs in special gold pouches.
There is nothing I love more than going to Disneyland and being surprised by a special event! For the month of August, the Adventure Trading Company has set up camp at the Indiana Jones Outpost, to send YOU on a quest to obtain rare (limited edition) Juju’s hidden around Adventureland. What is a Juju you ask? It’s a traditional relic that represents a quest or special experience. There are nine collectable Juju’s. Each adventure starts at $5 (refreshment adventures slightly more) and there is no annual passholder discount. Continue reading
In addition to the Marvel booth and X Box Lounge, Disney Infinity set up shop across the tracks from the convention hall. Visitors were treated to giveaways, drinks and served hors d’oeuvres as they were introduced to the new world of Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes on compatible game consoles. New Characters, adventures and power disks were a reach away as gamers sampled the updated toy box and play sets in the Marvel Universe and placed advance orders for the new game system. With seventy-five visits to the Disneyland parks, I have never been to the Cove Bar at California Adventure. It’s a full service bar on the boardwalk, behind Ariel’s Grotto that overlooks Paradise Bay. It’s a cozy space, with a great view of the park and a nice place to sit back and unwind. Continue reading
Oscar worthy? We will see. I shed tears before the opening Marvel Studios title card and enjoyed the adventure from that moment on. Early skeptics were discounting the choice to use the Guardians and doubted they would work with the continuity of the new cinematic universe. Some Star Wars fans are worried Disney will not be able to pull off an intergalactic epic. As I play catch up with countless Infinity titles, I am excited to say they nailed it and if this is an indicator of the resources at their disposal, Star Wars is in good hands. Applause to the writers for including a back story on the characters without creating an “Origin” story. Continue reading
SDCC 2014 is over, but its revelations carry over into all areas of popular entertainment for years to come. I am thankful for the crowd and navigation training I received from Disney Park attendance. How else would I have survived the tight quarters with thousands of my closest strangers? I am not new to the, “get in line for a ticket to get in line for a ride ending in a line for a cash register” model, but I was surprised that many toy vendors were unwilling to take my money when I had time to spend it due to Con requirements to limit daily inventories in an attempt to spread the LE Exclusives over the course of the Convention. I saved a lot of money, but Christmas will be Comic-Con light this year.
Our team is packing up and getting ready to head south to San Diego! We have been to WonderCon and D23 Expo in Anaheim, Stan Lee’s Comikaze in Los Angeles, but this will be our first experience attending the giant that is San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve printed out schedules, made spread sheets and have snacks prepared for the next 5 days of pop culture overload. We highlighted special preview screenings and interesting panels from Marvel to Star Wars, ABC, Pixar and beyond! We’ll Instagram photos of Disney-inspired cosplay and share updates through Facebook.
Below is a schedule of Disney related events. Continue reading
